Cottage Wood extends to 51.4 hectares (127 acres) or thereby of attractive mixed woodland lying to the east of Glaceriska Cottage and is offered for sale as a separate lot. The woodland forms part of a larger area that lies within a deer fenced perimeter, and was originally planted as commercial forestry, but then acquired and sympathetically restructured by the cottage owners. The resultant woodland has a wide range of tree species and age classes to give a multi-purpose woodland, that could be managed in future to meet both amenity and commercial woodland outcomes. The site includes a superb hilltop viewpoint with wide ranging views over the Argyll hills, Firth of Lorn, Mull and the east coast of the Morvern peninsula. The land lies between 10m and 95m above sea level.
The woodland is diverse in character and includes small areas of mature conifer timber that could be felled over the coming years. To the south areas have been cleared of conifers to allow the mature Oak that once covered much of this coastline to thrive again. The majority of the area is mixed woodland comprising Silver Birch and mixed conifer regeneration that could be managed to produce productive woodland, or left to benefit wildlife.
