About this property

  • Bury Court is a conveniently located residential estate, situated in Hampshire, close to the Surrey border. The property occupies an unspoilt position nestled in rolling countryside whilst maintaining excellent communication links. The residential estate, set in approximately 20 acres (8.09 hectares), consist of an attractive large 17th Century former farmhouse with internationally renowned gardens, a beautiful listed barn which is operated as a successful events and wedding venue, and a further range of historic converted buildings. Two self-contained flats and a traditional hop kiln, converted into four offices provide a useful income.

The history of Bury Court spans many centuries, with records going back to at least the 1200's. On 17th Century maps Bury Court is depicted as a place of importance when it was a demesne farm belonging to the Bishops of Winchester. Until the 1980's, Bury Court was a productive hop farm. The house is situated on the side of a dry river valley, through which a winterbourne rivulet, tributary of the river Wey, runs.
