A fine former manse on the banks of the Tay

  • Cargill House dates from about 1840 and was originally the manse for Cargill church. It was later sympathetically extended with wings at either end making it a much larger house and giving it quite a presence. Although it looks large, Cargill House has a wonderfully warm and friendly feel. Steps lead up to the front door and vestibule and into the main reception hall. From here there is access to three beautiful reception rooms with large windows framing mesmerising views of the Tay as it flows past the house. The sitting room has glass doors opening to raised decking and it also has a large wood burning stove. It is a large room spanning the width of the house and is ideal for entertaining. The drawing room which is an equally attractive room but with quite a different character has a pretty bay window, an open fire, timber floor and a bookcase fitted along one wall. The timber floor continues to the dining room where floor to ceiling windows once again frame the view of the river.   • Cargill House is situated in a sleepy rural hamlet on the banks of the River Tay. The house is positioned beautifully in a slightly elevated position with uninterrupted views over the water. The Cargill and Ballathie beats – two of the most famous and accessible salmon fishing beats on the river – are immediately below the house.
  • With the Perthshire hills and Angus Glens to the north and east and the Fife coast to the southeast, Cargill House is ideally positioned to take advantage of the many outdoor pursuits that are on offer nearby.
