About this property

  • Situated in a conservation area at the heart of the village, Courtyard Cottage is a detached barn conversion thought to have origins dating to the 1800's and believed to have been converted in the 1980s.

Constructed of stone beneath a pitched concrete tile roof, the property has more recently been tastefully updated by the current owners. Retaining period features, including exposed timbers and stone, the property offers both character and modern comforts. The sitting room with dining area, has feature stone chimney breast with wood burning stove, deep set windows and French doors to the garden. The kitchen breakfast room, overlooking the garden, has oak work tops, cereamic hob and Neff double oven. There is a useful study and downstairs cloakroom. On the first floor the principal bedroom has an en suite shower room, there are two further bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Outside, the property is entered through an attractive archway which also provides parking. There is an attached single garage with scope to convert to home office subject to relevant consents. The pretty, enclosed west facing garden is laid to lawn with a gravel terrace area. There is further parking in front of the garage. Courtyard Cottage is ideal for young families, professionals, downsizers or second homers.

  • In 1538 the Abbey was dissolved by Henry VIII. The remains stood for 100 years or so, but eventually stones from the Abbey were reused to build many other houses in Eynsham.
  • Courtyard Cottage is tucked away in the centre of this popular and thriving village, which offers a good range of local amenities including primary and secondary schools, shops, doctors surgery, chemists, library and post office.
