About this property

  • The former coach house and stables to Meonstoke House, Long Meadow was converted to this most comfortable family house approximately 40 years ago. The setting of the house is exceptional: beautifully positioned in the north-eastern corner of its plot overlooking the delightful grounds and the pretty River Meon and one of its carriers. The grounds extend in all to about 3.5 acres. The tree-lined driveway leads through the gardens, terminating at a parking and turning area immediately adjacent to the double garage. The accommodation in the house is extensive, in excess of 3,000 sq ft, with a welcoming reception hall, four reception rooms, a study and good sized kitchen/breakfast room with utility room and boot room. On the first floor there is a wonderful master bedroom suite which overlooks the gardens and grounds and the River Meon, with adjoining bathroom. There are five further bedrooms and two family bathrooms on the first floor. The gardens and grounds to the property are exceptional, predominantly to the west and south of the property, providing a sunny aspect through the day and attractive sunsets in the evening. The lawns roll down to the River Meon. To the south of the property an area known as the island provides a perfect sanctuary and a wonderful playground for children.

A fantastic family home with a beautifully maintained garden overlooking one of the River Meon carriers.

Local information

  • The village of Meonstoke includes the parish church of St Andrews, The Bucks Head public house, an excellent village infants school and a village shop and post office. The countryside surrounding the village is well known and centres upon the River Meon itself which runs through the valley and the gardens of Long Meadow House. There are many footpaths and bridleways in the immediate area, especially via the route of the disused Queen Victoria's railway line. The Georgian market town of Bishops Waltham is just 4 miles away with good facilities, shopping, restaurants and public houses. The city of Winchester and Petersfield, with their regular 1 hour / 1 hour 15 minutes rail connection to London Waterloo, are 12 and 11 miles respectively. Fareham and the South Coast are 10 miles south. Private schooling can be found in Winchester and Petersfield including Bedales, Winchester College, Twyford, Pilgrims and Prince's Mead prep schools, St Swithun's School for Girls and sixth form colleges.
