    About this property

    • With its superb location and grand stature, this versatile house offers many possibilities.

The Mansion House is an outstanding property with its roots dating back to the 16th century. The B Listed property was remodelled in the early 19th century and was fully renovated, rewired, plumbed and partially rebuilt in places by the current owners in the mid 2000s. The property is rich in heritage and the accommodation is on a grand scale, extending to around 16500 sq ft. While the house retains many original features, the interior has been updated and is well presented throughout, with modern heating and good wifi connections.

The ground floor is the formal part of the house with a large wood panelled entrance hallway and sweeping staircase. There are three impressive reception rooms off the hallway, along with a spacious kitchen, adjacent to the dining room. Off the back hallway is a library and beyond it a ballroom / billiard room which has a Victorian club bar, open fire plus a large wood burning stove set beneath an impressive mantel, and toilets.
Leading from the ballroom is a lovely south facing Victorian veranda with climbing vines, which looks out onto the flower garden.

The house was designed to have to have two distinct separate parts: formal and informal, with seven different entrances and a second back staircase which would originally have been for staff use. There are two kitchens on the ground floor. The one currently used by the family includes original ovens along with a laundry room.
The other kitchen is fully equipped with an AGA plus double ovens and dishwashers. It is currently used as part of the rental accommodation.

Within the main formal part of the house are 15 bedrooms and six bathrooms, which include a spacious principal bedroom with dressing room and en suite bathroom. The first floor is home to five bedrooms and three bathrooms while the top floor comprises nine bedrooms and three bath / shower rooms arranged around the linking main and back staircases.

The family wing has three bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en suite) on the first floor with private access.
On the ground floor there are another two rooms with a shower room/toilet currently used as an office and for storage.

The lower ground floor has an original servants' kitchen/scullery with the old range still in situ; this is currently being used for storage. A further series of storerooms includes a wine cellar and is also where the heating controls and boilers are located.

The Mansion House is accessed by a private tree lined driveway and immediately on entering the grounds there is a large lawn to the left which is suitable for a marquee. There is ample parking to the front of the house on the gravel driveway by the front door. On the south side of the house is a covered terrace which overlooks the lower garden with romantic rose covered arches where you can stroll through the stunning flower garden which is bordered by pretty box hedges overlooking the lower lawn. A variety of other plants and shrubs which provide an abundance of interest all year round are surrounded by ancient woodland giving total privacy. The Mansion House also has a lower garden which is mainly laid to lawn.
