About this property

  • Tor Fala is a substantial family house with well-appointed and modern accommodation set on the edge of the village of Star. The main house was built in around 1990 and offers extensive and flexible living space throughout. The superb additional cottage accommodation was created in 2016, converted from the existing garage. This offers excellent overflow living space to the main house with two bedrooms, two shower rooms, and a kitchen / family room. Together the house and cottage (which is single storey) are ideal for multi-generational living. The beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding the house are fully enclosed, with charming rural outlooks over the neighbouring farmland.

Paved steps lead up to the front door of Tor Fala which leads into the entrance vestibule where there is a cloak cupboard. A door leads into the entrance hall off which lie the principal ground floor rooms. The kitchen / dining room is an excellent, high spec, open-plan room, with an extensive range of fitted Neff appliances including induction hob, two ovens and a combi grill microwave. The central island has a breakfast bar with quartz surfaces, with an integrated quartz dining table at a lower level. Other concealed appliances include a freezer, fridge and dishwasher. Semi open plan to this is the sun room which overlooks the south facing garden and terrace with windows on three aspects and double doors leading outside. A glazed sliding door opens up into the adjacent sitting room which overlooks the gardens and has a contemporary real flame gas fire with tiled surround. The principal bedroom suite sits on the ground floor and has an en suite bathroom with shower compartment, jacuzzi bath, twin wash hand basins and WC. On this level there is a further double bedroom with en suite, gymnasium, sauna, utility room and WC.

A stunning oak staircase with glass balustrade leads up from the main hall to the first floor landing above. There are three double bedrooms on this level. One has an en suite shower room, and the other two have fitted wardrobes and one in particular has fabulous views over the neighbouring countryside towards Falkland Hill. A family bathroom serves these two bedrooms, and has a bath, separate shower cubicle and attractive mosaic floor tiling. A super cinema / games room completes the accommodation. Big Velux windows provide the room with fantastic natural light and views. It has a fitted base for a pool table, dropdown cinema screen and retractable cinema projector. It could also be used as a further bedroom or a home office.

The gardens at Tor Fala have been beautifully landscaped and laid out to embrace the outlooks over the neighbouring Fife countryside. An electric sliding gate from the public road opens up to the generous parking area which is made of sealed resin. The cottage and a separate home office / workshop sit adjacent, and a path passes through stone pillars and leads through the gently sloping lawns up to the front of the main house. To the rear of Tor Fala a patio overlooks the garden and has steps leading up to garden level in which sits a fixed gazebo, offering a lovely spot for barbecues and outdoor entertaining.

    Cottage

What was a garage up until 2016 has been cleverly converted to create a superb cottage offering self-contained accommodation of a high standard. The kitchen is open plan to the sitting / dining room. The kitchen area is fitted with a range of storage and drawer units with wood effect surfaces. It has an integrated gas hob, and a fan oven. Other appliances include a fridge, freezer and dishwasher. There are two double bedrooms, one of which has fitted wardrobes and an en suite shower room. The second bedroom also has fitted wardrobes. There is also an additional shower room and a utility room which is plumbed for appliances and houses the gas central heating boiler.
