    About this property

    • Tromie House is a charming villa which is thought to date from around 1880 set amidst mature gardens, enjoying wonderful water views. Built of sandstone under a slate clad roof, this substantial family home has been upgraded throughout the years to become the wonderful family home it is today.

The entrance porch leads to the reception hallway with stairway to half landing with stained glass window, detailed cornice and ceiling rose. Off the reception hallway are the sitting room, dining kitchen, study, rear hallway with utility, bathroom and studio/bedroom.

The sitting room to the front is magnificent with its three pane bay window with open aspects to the front and wood burning stove. It also has detailed cornicing and beautiful wooden doors which at one time would have opened to an ante room. A wall now divides the drawing room from the study behind but the doors remain in situ as a feature.

The kitchen has been relocated so that it is now at the front of the house and takes full advantage of the views, with a three pane bay window. The kitchen has been updated with a range of modern floor and wall units, with Rangemaster cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer, tiled splashback, decorative cornice, and plenty of space for dining. The rear hallway leads to a substantial downstairs bedroom, presently used as a studio, with a window to the rear. There is a downstairs family bathroom with separate shower and utility with sink, washing machine and tumble dryer. A study to the side completes the ground floor accommodation.

Upstairs are four bedrooms, one of which is currently used as a dressing room. The two front bedrooms have the most wonderful aspects towards the water. A well fitted shower room completes the first floor accommodation.

Workshop, garden room and guest accommodation

To the rear is an attractive traditional outbuilding which is built of stone under a slate roof. This former coach house is now home to a workshop with guest bedroom and shower room above. There is also a detached pretty garden room, which has a woodburning stove and is a lovely flexible space for relaxing in all seasons.

      Grounds
The grounds at Tromie House are spectacular, beginning with a gravel driveway which sweeps up towards the house with parking. The front garden has been carefully planned and laid out, with a great variety of shrubs and trees, and there is an elevated terrace to the front. Steps ascend up to the lovely rear garden which has a raised terrace area and is formed around a courtyard setting.
