    About this property

    • Dominey's Yard is a most handsome, thatched Dorset property thought to have origins dating back to the 17th Century and being of Hamstone and brick elevations under a thatched roof. The property originally formed a pair of cottages, but was converted to one property in the latter part of the 20th century by the previous owners. This edge of village house is listed Grade II and situated in a glorious rural setting at the top of a long driveway and backing onto farmland with flexible accommodation arranged over two floors. Changing hands for only the second time since the 1960s the house is generally in good order throughout, with the rear slope and ridges of the roof being re-thatched in November/December 2012 and further thatching planned for September 2024. Internally there are some lovely period features including flagstone floors, exposed ceiling beams, open fireplaces and a particularly beautiful stripped wood floor on the landing.

      Cottages
A short distance from the property are the splendid cottages known as Poacher's, Gamekeeper's, Woodcutter's (each 2 beds) and Gardener's Cottage (3 beds). These cottages have been extensively refurbished and extended by the current owners and now provide exceptionally well presented accommodation, also each cottage having a private individual terrace and garden.

Understandably, these cottages have proven a popular holiday choice, and prospective buyers are welcome to further information in connection with the business at a later stage if required.

      Outside
The gardens and grounds at Dominey's Yard are a major asset to the property and have been thoughtfully landscaped and planted over the years now providing a wealth of specimen trees, shrubs and plants as well as an impressive productive kitchen garden. We are advised that the soil conditions at the property are excellent. The garden complements the house beautifully and adjoins open farmland to the rear which faces in a southerly direction. From the elevated parts of the garden there are lovely views over the surrounding hills and countryside. At the top of the drive, over which there is access for one other property, there is a double garage block incorporating all the swimming pool machinery including an oil fired boiler for the pool. There are also a smaller pair of garages and a workshop and garden store.

      Agents Note
Please be aware there is a footpath that runs along the driveway.
