A luxury holiday retreat, with breath taking, south facing views over The Bay Talland
'37' is a beautifully designed , single storey timber clad house, set within expansive, natural coastal habitats with uninterrupted views of the sea. The interior, designed by Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen, has been thoughtfully done so to reflect its environs to create a luxurious seaside bolthole at a vantage point to weather watch all year round. The house has its own defined plot, which benefits from its own private path up from the parking and reception (the only property at The Bay Talland to do so). The surrounding landscape and public realm are carefully managed by the resort company, creating a unified and naturally biodiverse setting for the properties.
Inside - The anthracite coloured front door opens into a striking, linear vaulted corridor that flows the length of the building into the open plan living room at the opposite end. The living room is zoned into kitchen, dining and lounge areas, filled with the charms of the sea through the wrap around aluminium and timber framed Velfac windows; views glittering waves, silhouetted headlands, white horses and dramatic skies create a lasting impression.
A half island feature contains the kitchen area to allow views of the watery horizon while preparing lunch. The lounge area is oriented to watch the sun rise and fall and the sliding glass walls can be opened up to create a seamless internal and outdoor living space, extending the living space onto the timber veranda that wraps the house. The room is airtight, well insulated and cosy, soundproofed from the elements. A Scandi style cylindrical wood burning stove on a slate floor hearth provides a constant source of warmth, rarely requiring the need for heating in the rooms. The designer zebrano and white contemporary kitchen has plenty of below counter and wall mounted storage housing a range of fitted appliances; a Neff fan oven, Neff microwave, a Beko induction hob, a Neff extractor, an integrated fridge/freezer unit, an integrated dishwasher and a stainless steel sink and tap provide everything you need.
Off the main corridor is a large cupboard housing the water boiler with storage shelves and there is a large, slate floored family bathroom with a bath and shower. Next to the back door is a conveniently located cloak and utility room with a washer drier, warmed by the gas boiler. The spine corridor leads into the King, Double and Single bedrooms, the King room having an en suite shower room and all of the bedrooms have built in cupboards. The underfloor heated engineered oak flooring runs seamlessly between the rooms and corridors to create a clean and natural living space perfect for this coastal retreat.
Exterior - The private resort has electronic gated access with concierge and spa facilities in the main building. Cars are allowed to access the houses at the beginning and end of the stays for luggage drop off. There are dedicated parking bays in a communal parking area adjacent to the park's reception, from where you will find a signpost up some recently installed timber steps up to the property and its wrap around deck
To the rear of the property is an external shower with convenient hooks for beach gear. There is a screened barbecue area to the south side of the lodge and there is a storage cupboard externally.
The grounds beyond the decking are beautifully tended by the resort to retain the wild coast setting including coconut scented gorse bushes and purple heathers.
