About this property

  • Constructed in 1893, Ardmorag is a handsome Victorian villa with an attractive symmetrical façade. The property is characterised by two bay windows either side of a smart front door and its peaked slate roof with painted timber fascias. Ardmorag has been a much-loved home for many years and now requires complete refurbishment.

The main accommodation at Ardmorag is arranged over two storeys and beautiful original features include floor tiles in the hall, sash and case windows, cornicing, timber panelled doors and the carved timber staircase. The formal rooms are situated either side of the hall at the front of the house with a family room and kitchen with AGA behind.

A series of practical rooms at the rear of the property include a laundry room, larder, coal store and shower room. A small stair in the utility room leads up to what was once the maid's room which would make a charming home office or separate guest accommodation. The main staircase leads firstly to a half landing where there is a shower room and then to the main landing where there are four beautifully proportioned double bedrooms. A large storeroom on the landing also has a staircase which goes up to a huge, floored loft. Subject to obtaining the relevant consents this room offers potential to create more bedrooms, bathrooms, office space or a fabulous playroom.

    Outside
Ardmorag is set in an enclosed garden. A short driveway leads up to the house, although the main parking area at the rear of the house is now down to grass. The garden at Ardmorag has become a little overgrown in recent years but the grass and shrubs have been cut back; the opportunity exists to remodel the entire garden area and amongst other work, to showcase the existing herbaceous borders, rockery and paved terrace. At the front of the house an old summer house requires renovation or replacement and there is plenty of space to build new outbuildings.
