    About this property

    • Southcot House is a beautiful detached country house, situated in a no through road at the heart of Chapmanslade. The property dates back to the 1870's and is constructed of red brick elevations under a tiled roof. Southcot House has been extended in the 1970's and again in 2005 to provide excellent accommodation arranged over two floors. The property has the most beautiful façade, enhanced by the magnificent wisteria. Internally, the property benefits from many original features and architectural detail typical of the period, which sits well alongside contemporary fixtures and fittings. Southcot House is presented in good decorative order and the rooms are very well proportioned.

Upon entering, there is a large entrance hall, off which is a WC and store. There is a superb reception hall with dining room to the rear. There is a fireplace with exposed brick chimney breast and JetMaster fire. Of particular note is the magnificent triple aspect drawing room. The proportions are superb. There is a marble fireplace again with open JetMaster fireplace. Sliding doors lead to the rear garden. There is a third reception room, currently a study that could also provide an informal sitting room. A marble fireplace with open fire sits at the heart of the room flanked by bespoke display units.

To the rear of the property is a superb farmhouse style kitchen/breakfast room fitted with a range of matching units and integrated appliances, granite work surfaces and an Aga. There is a generous breakfast area and bi-folding doors lead into the garden room which extends the kitchen to provide a pretty sitting room with views over the garden. A utility room, shower room and office room complete the ground floor accommodation.

On the first floor is a generous master suite with part vaulted ceiling, dressing area and adjacent bathroom. There is a guest bedroom with en suite, three further bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Outside the property is approached via double five-bar gates that lead to a generous parking area where there is ample space for several vehicles. There is a barn/outbuilding that provides extensive storage. There is a detached annexe building that incorporates a triple garage with ancillary accommodation above in the form of a one bedroom apartment. Southcot House is surrounded by mature landscaped gardens approaching ½ an acre. The gardens are mainly laid to lawn with flower borders, mature trees, plants and shrubs. There is a terrace immediately to the rear of the house, a summer house and a vegetable garden.
