Detached cottage in an elevated position with outstanding views across to Loch Leven

About this property

  • The Lindens was originally a one storey 18th century cottage but was heightened during Victorian times. Between 1906 and 1914 the cottage was owned by author Oliphant Smeaton. His granddaughter, who inherited the cottage, married the engineer Alan Munro. Munro designed the steering gears and boilers for many famous ships including the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary.

The Lindens is a stone built cottage nestled below the Lomond Hills and sits in an elevated position above Loch Leven. The views from the two upstairs bedrooms, dining room and sun room towards Loch Leven are outstanding.

    The accommodation comprises:

Sun room with storage cupboard, sitting room with wood burning stove and dining room. The kitchen has a door leading to the terrace. The kitchen has plenty of storage, oak worktops and a Belfast sink and enjoys beautiful views to the Lomond Hills behind. Appliances include an integrated dishwasher, integrated fridge freezer, oven and induction hob with extractor fan above. From the sun room there is a downstairs double bedroom with an en suite shower room.

Stairs from the hall lead up to a mezzanine level where there is a bathroom with a walk in shower and large bathtub. Stairs lead up to the first floor where there are two double bedrooms. From the first floor, there is potential to extend out above the sun room to create additional accommodation, subject to the necessary planning permission and consents. There is a door to the roof from the first floor landing and a small loft which is accessed from the hall.

    Garden and grounds

The garden sits in approximately 0.23 acres and is southwesterly facing. There is a terrace outside the sun room, a vegetable patch, greenhouse, single wooden garage with electricity, stone outhouse which has potential to convert into an outside office (subject to planning and consents) and log store. In the garden there are plenty of beautiful flowers and shrubs as well as plum and apple trees and raspberries.
