  • Skilgate is a pretty and peaceful small village with a strong community, situated on the edge of Exmoor National Park. The village has a church and village hall, whilst local shops can be found in the nearby towns of Bampton and Dulverton. The larger towns of Tiverton and Taunton are both within easy reach and provide a wider range of services, shopping and recreational facilities.
  • Exmoor National Park is superb for walking and riding and the beaches of the West Somerset Coast are within easy reach. Wimbleball Lake is about three miles to the north with activities such as sailing, fishing and walking. There are primary schools at Wiveliscombe and Dulverton, plus secondary schools at Minehead and Tiverton. There are private schools at Taunton, Wellington and Tiverton.
  • Communications to the area are good with the M5 at Taunton (Junction 25) and Tiverton (Junction 27) both about 18 miles distant. Tiverton Parkway and Taunton railway stations provide a regular service to Paddington and the Midlands.
