About this property

  • Occupying the most wonderful and tranquil position, surrounded by gently undulating fields, Manor Cottage is an attractive detached family home with beautiful gardens.

Believed to date from the early 19th century and substantially extended and modernised, Manor Cottage perfectly balances period charm with comfortable contemporary living.

The house is set back from the road, down a generous shingle drive, and has handsome rendered elevations, aluminum windows and a tiled roof.

Internally, the accommodation flows exceptionally well, comprising well-proportioned and light filled rooms. The front door opens into a useful porch, which in turn leads to the reception hall.

The excellent, triple aspect kitchen has bespoke, hand-built wooden cabinetry with Iroko worksurfaces, a Mercury stove, integrated dishwasher and refrigerator, and butler-style sink. The dining area has a charming wood-burning stove; French windows lead directly to the south facing garden.

Manor Cottage has three further reception rooms: beyond the kitchen is the double aspect family room; and both the snug and triple aspect sitting room - which also has French windows out to the terrace - benefit from wood burning stoves.

The first floor consists of five double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The principal bedroom has amazing, far reaching views over the garden and surrounding fields, a dressing area and hand built wardrobes, and a generous adjoining shower bath and shower room.

Manor Cottage sits centrally within grounds of about 0.58 of an acre. To the front is a delightfully, principally lawned garden with mature trees and fish pond.

Immediately to the rear of the house is a generous terrace, perfect for al fresco dining and entertaining; this leads to a further lawn with various shrubs and raised borders.

There is extensive parking for numerous cars over a shingle drive and a double garage with workshop.

Manor Cottage is a wonderfully handsome house with beautiful gardens in one of the most idyllic locations I have come across, surrounding by gently undulating fields. I was struck by the sense of tranquility and calm at the house.
